We had to go get our pre-employment drug tests done for Amazon, and they sent us a ways away to Auburn, Maine,so we decided to make a weekend out of it and go visit Boothbay Harbor on the way back to Mount Desert. What a fun, little town! And we needed some fun because the drug testing facility was so back woods that we thought at first that they were going to harvest our organs. But everything turned out fine. And we're clean, Ma, so no worries there.
We did a little bit of hotel shopping prior to our trip, and I had my heart set on Cap'n Fish's. We only had to loop around the one-way streets of Boothbay twice before we found it, but it sure was a nice, friendly place. The lady at the front desk heard we were full-time RVers and hung up on her hubby to talk to us about the life. We told her about this website, so if you're reading this, hi!
Boothbay is a coastal town split in two but connected by a footbridge that was conveniently located right next door to the hotel, so we walked across and bought some books and some yummy popcorn.
This next pic shows our hotel from across the bridge:
Phil was nice enough to point it out to you...if you look a bit to the left, you'll see some red umbrellas where we ate our surf 'n turf dinners that evening.
After dinner, we relaxed and waited for sunset.
We took a little detour the next day to go look at a house we had found online. It is in Burlington, ME, and I can't even describe how awesome this house was, but we don't like the location so we have to just forget about it, but it screamed us in every way, right down to the two-seater outhouse in the back yard. (It had indoor plumbing...calm down.)
Next stop...hopefully a whalewatching trip tomorrow but they haven't gone out in the last two weeks due to hurricane-related bad weather, so we'll see.
