Last week on our days off, we decided to see what the way northernmost bit of Maine had to offer. I wore my moose earrings as lucky talismans for a sighting, but alas, none showed themselves to us despite all the moose warning signs. But the trip was still very fun. I do like it up there, and by up there, I mean as up there as you can get. We went to Mile 0 at Fort Kent, Maine. (Now, we've been to both Mile 0s on Highway 1...Key West being the other side.)
We didn't really want to go back down, but we couldn't justify the expense of another night when there really wasn't much to do except eat Chinese food, so we hit the road the next morning and enjoyed a leisurely drive. It really is beautiful country up there...I'm sure we wouldn't feel as positive about it when the snow starts, but I could see myself up there.
As for these most recent days off, we decided to check out the free shuttles they have running all over the place up here. There's a pickup right at our campground, so we took that one into Bar Harbor and caught another one that took us into Acadia National Park. But one of the stops gets us right to our favorite cave and ocean view, so that couldn't be beat.
Once we were done watching the waves, we caught the bus back to Bar Harbor, ate too much food at a Beer Garden, and caught another shuttle back to the campground. All in all, a very pleasant outing. And it's a good thing we went on Sunday since it rained all day Monday.
Next stop...I have no idea
